As the 2024 US presidential race heats up, Vice President Kamala Harris is currently leading ahead of Republican candidate Donald Trump in several pivotal battleground states. According to swing state polls conducted by the New York Times/Siena, Harris has secured a lead over Trump in Arizona and North Carolina, while Trump is ahead in Georgia and Nevada.

Earlier this month, Harris also held the lead over Trump in the Rust Belt states. However, prior to Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the November presidential race, Trump had a 3% lead over Biden in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Both Harris and Trump must win at least one of the four Sun Belt states and three Rust Belt states to claim victory in the presidential election. The latest survey shows both candidates tied at 48%. This represents a notable improvement for the Democrats, as a previous poll in May had Trump leading Biden in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada.

“Kamala Harris Easier Than Joe Biden”

On Saturday, Trump expressed confidence that Harris would be an easier opponent to defeat than Biden, even as some polls showed her gaining ground in the November 5 election. During a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania—a crucial state in the campaign—Trump referred to Harris as “radical” and a “lunatic.”

“Have you heard her laugh? That is the laugh of a crazy person. I’m much better looking than her. Harris should have done more to tackle inflation and other issues since she and Biden took office,” Trump said, according to Reuters.

Pennsylvania, along with Wisconsin and Michigan, was instrumental in Trump’s surprise victory in 2016. Biden, who hails from Scranton, Pennsylvania, managed to flip these Rust Belt states back to the Democrats in 2020.
