NFL would be ‘foolish’ not to show Taylor Swift on TV: Jason Kelce
In an interview with Cincinnati’s WCPO-TV during Pro Bowl festivities, the 36-year-old Eagles center addressed the criticism, stating, “The attention is there because the audience wants to see it. I mean, if people didn’t want to see it, they wouldn’t be showing it, I know that.”
Kelce went on to praise Taylor Swift, acknowledging her global stardom and highlighting her role as a singer-songwriter and an influential role model for young women worldwide. He suggested that the NFL would be wise to showcase Swift, recognizing her impact as a positive influence for young girls.
Swift, 34, has become a familiar face at Chiefs games throughout the NFL season, notably since her appearance at their home game against the Bears on September 24, 2023, when public attention on Swift and Kelce’s relationship surged. Television networks have consistently featured her reactions to plays involving Kelce and her interactions with Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.
Even during the NFL playoffs, Swift continued to be a visible presence, attending all three of the Chiefs’ victories and drawing attention, including boos, at the Bills’ stadium for the divisional round.
The controversy surrounding Swift’s presence reached its peak after the Chiefs-Bills game when former Giants player Tiki Barber expressed annoyance at the continuous coverage of Swift. He questioned why Taylor Swift was repeatedly shown during Chiefs games, stating that the obsession was becoming annoying.
Fans, however, won’t see any relief from the Taylor Swift coverage during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl 2024 on February 11. Swift is expected to be in Las Vegas for the Chiefs’ clash with the 49ers, despite having an Eras Tour show scheduled in Tokyo on February 10.
