76ers News: Tyrese Maxey Has One of NBA’s Biggest Scoring Jumps This Season

During Joel Embiid’s dominant performance, another compelling storyline has emerged for the Philadelphia 76ers—the ascent of Tyrese Maxey as a crucial contributor. Transitioning into the team’s second option, the young guard has seized the opportunity with remarkable efficiency.

Maxey’s prowess as a high-level scorer has been a consistent theme throughout his career, and this season, he has showcased his offensive talents alongside Embiid. In 25 games this year, Maxey has posted impressive averages of 25.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.

During the recent matchup against the Chicago Bulls, Maxey’s progress took center stage as the broadcast highlighted his substantial leap. Currently boasting the second-highest increase in points per game (PPG) in the NBA, Maxey is only surpassed by Bulls guard Coby White, who has been on a hot streak in the absence of Zach LaVine.

In the previous season, Maxey thrived as the third option alongside Embiid and James Harden. Despite becoming a focal point for opposing defenses, Maxey continues to deliver impressive numbers this season, showcasing his resilience and offensive prowess.

Maxey’s notable performances include a career-high 50 points in a mid-November victory over the Indiana Pacers, emphasizing his ability to rise to the occasion. His emergence as a reliable running mate for Embiid has been pivotal for the Sixers, allowing the team to exercise patience on the trade front.

Should Maxey maintain his current level of play, he stands as a strong contender for the Most Improved Player award this season. His exceptional contributions have left the Sixers with little choice but to consider offering him a max contract when the time comes, solidifying his status as a key player in the team’s future.
